Every year Adams Pond and Knickerbocker Lake provide over 200 million gallons of drinking water to the people and businesses of Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor and Southport. Water quality in Adams Pond and Knickerbocker Lake is directly affected by human activities in the watershed, which is simply all the land that drains to the lake. To protect Adams Pond and Knickerbocker Lake water quality and keep water rates low, the most effective and least expensive method is to protect the watershed.
