After nearly three-weeks straight, the seasonal water is established. The BRWD thanks the hard effort put out by the district’s distribution division led by Distribution Foreman, Dale Harmon, and technicians Trevor Morin, Matt Wade, Weston Alley and Mike Hills. Also special thanks to the Southport Public Works Department for their invaluable assistance.

Additionally John Orne, Chief Treatment Plant Operator made a great contribution helping prepare the seasonal water mains and performing analytical surveys to ensure the water provided to the district’s seasonal customers was of the highest standard.

Lastly special thanks to the District’s Customer Service Representative, Ruth Watts who handled the extraordinary volume of inquiries, with regard to seasonal water service.

Have a wonderful summer season…

March 29, 2013

The Boothbay Region Water District is large, service area and size-wise, but rather small manpower-wise.. The district employs 9 full-time employees dedicated to the production, delivery and sound customer service required to providing the towns of Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor & Southport a safe and reliable water supply for commercial and domestic use as well as fire protection. Because of the district’s size certain functions are contracted out.

For functions completed by contrators, the board of trustees insists upon using some of the best in their field. This philosophy is nowhere more evident than the administration of the district’s safety program and delivery of safety training. Worker safety is the number one priority of the Boothbay Region Water District.

For this function the district employs New England Water and Wastewater Training Associates (NEWWTA). NEWWTA is owned and operated by Mr. Greg Kidd, arguably the leading authority in water and wastewater utility safety in New England.

Today the district is in “safety stand down” where the entire staff, even those recuperating from surgery, at home, via Skype are receiving vitally important safety certifications . Today’s topics included, among others, certification in workzone safety and trench safety (see pictutres below)…

We will post more pictures in the future
