The following is an excerpt from the General Manager to Ms. McKenzie Parker, Drinking Water Engineer with the Maine Department of Health & Human Services, Maine Drinking Water Program who besides regulating the district are great benefactors of grants and low interest loans in improving the drinking water system for the Boothbay Region ------------------------------------------ McKenzie –
The Southport School is now officially a year-round customer of the Boothbay Region Water District with 100% of its potable water and fire suppression water being supplied by the District via a new water main and service. The well formerly used for these purposes has been physically disconnected from building and can in no way feed the school. We consider this the “golden spike” of which we have been working towards for the past 4-plus years. I am totally psyched to say “Mission Accomplished”!!!!!!!
All of us at the Boothbay Region Water District are very thankful to you, Norm Lamie, Nate Saunders, Roger Crouse and the Drinking Water Program for all of your support, understanding and flexibility. Without your hard work and support the progress depicted in the photographs above would not have happened. It is truly a great day for the district, the town of Southport and the Southport School…
I believe that this submission meets the final requirements for freeing the $100,000.00 in funding from the Consolidation Grant, of which is most needed.
